Rock'em Sock'em

BabySox, born May 22, 2007, a day the Red Sox beat Yankees, and the year the Sox put to rest the sad Yankee fan taunt "it'll be another 86 years." Coincidence? I think not.

Oh, someone remember to send Mangina a thank you note for videogate--just the inspiration the Pats needed to get angry. Looking forward to Evil smashing up Mr. Class next week.

Please note small tweak to blogger template on right to accomodate the additional trophy.

And to save you time, yes I've seen this list (thanks Al). Eat your hearts out!

Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots is a two-player game/toy designed by Marvin Glass and Associates and released by Marx toys in 1964 . Marx later was acquired by Tyco Toys, Sportsbook which was acquired in 1997 by Mattel, Inc. It is currently marketed by Mattel. Each player takes control of either the red robot (the "Red Rocker") or the blue robot (the "Blue Bomber"), both of which are standing on a platform molded in yellow, reminiscent of a boxing ring. By pushing buttons on a pair of joysticks at the base of the platform, online betting players make their robot punch at their opponent's robot. If a robot's head gets hit with the sufficient force at a suitable angle, its head will pop up, signifying that the other player has won. Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots has enjoyed far-ranging success in the United States, selling in the hundreds of thousands and becoming something of a minor pop-culture phenomenon. The game was also available in the United Kingdom during the 1970s, where it was sold under the name Raving Bonkers.march madness Marx Toys also released an updated version of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots called Clash of the Cosmic Robots in 1977. It featured robots of a more space-age design, (or rather, the same robots as before with different heads) likely inspired by the science fiction influences of the time. Instead of a red robot and a blue robot, Clash of the Cosmic Robots featured PROG-2, an orange robot with a head more like that of Robocop, and V-STYX, a white robot with a long, protruding mouth (but no eyes. The boxing ring was molded in black this time to give the game a more 'spacey' look, and stickers and decals (for both the robots and the ring) were provided for this same idea.
